The top 5 sickest skateboarding world records pt. 2

Most kickflips
Kickflips are one of the most famous skateboarding tricks. You flip the board 360 degrees while performing a jump. A kick and a flip! It is difficult to hit one, imagine how hard it is to do multiple. Well, Alex Decunha from the UK holds the current world record for most kickflips in 30 seconds. He managed to hit 18 kickflips! That is more than 1 kickflip per 2 seconds. He broke the record in 2010 on the Guinness World Records Special in Beijing. It was a special event where people from all over the word went to break some records. Want to do a kickflip yourself? Check out this blog for a step by step guide. Maybe attempt to do 18 flips in 18 minutes instead of 30 seconds at first ;).
Highest wall ride
Another sick skateboarding skill is the wall ride. This skateboard trick is notorious for its difficulty. You put all four wheels on a vertical wall and cruise along it. Defeating gravity ;). The world record for highest wall ride has been around for 20 years! In 2004 Bred Edwards and Aaron Murray from the US broke the record. Their wall ride was 2.29m (7 ft 6) high. That’s bigger than the tallest NBA basketball player. Both hit the wall ride at the Juice Magazine USSA WSA. It was done in skateboarding capital Los Angeles, among the Hollywood stars. A skateboarding record to remember.
Highest air (quarter pipe)
Everybody dreams of going high when they hit the quarter pipe! Flying through the air on their skateboard. In 2015, Danny Way broke the 2003 record for highest air on a quarter pipe. Again in California. He managed to land 7.772m (25 ft 6 in) on the quarter pipe! Smashing the old record of 7.1m (23 ft 6 in). Literally taking things to the next level ;). They built one of the biggest and most impressive quarter pipes for this world record. Danny is one of the most dedicated skateboarders ever. Even a few hard crashes didn’t stop him from landing the record. Just take a look at him:
Largest skateboard
For the MTV series “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory” the largest skateboard ever was built. In one of the episodes, Rob and Joe Ciaglia broke the record. Building a skateboard that was 11.14m (36 ft 7 in) long, 2.63m (8 ft 8 in) wide and 1.10m (3 ft 7.5 in) high. It took them about 3 months to build it. The size is about 12.5 times bigger than a regular sized board! Even better is that the board is fully functional. It takes about 5 people for it to cruise down the concrete. They even rode it down Times Square in New York!
Most consecutive ollie's
And lastly, one of the most impressive skateboarding records ever. David Tavernor (34) from the UK broke the record for most consecutive ollies in 2021. Why did he want to break the record? He did it for a £5 bet. His friend challenged him to show his skateboarding skills. David doesn’t really care about the record and just did it for fun. In a few years he hopes his own son will beat the record. In Cape Town, South Africa during the 2022 Stumbo Record Breakers, Jean-Marc Johannes equalled Davids’s record. They both managed to hit 323 ollies back to back!
